Roller Coaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes Hasbro Interactive Real-Time Strategy and Building Single Player Gameplay: The same gameplay as Roller Coaster Tycoon. Plot: Same plot as Roller Coaster Tycoon. There are basicly no changes, except there are some different types of scenarios. You can see the "Variation" section below for that. Originality: Very original, adds more and more depth to the game while taking it's own path. Addictiveness (fun): This is a very fun expansion. I loved detailing my park with new scenery and a few new rides. The only problem was the length of scenarios. Unlike the ones in RCT and AA, they had pretty tough goals that took a very long time to reach. Even in the first batch of scenarios, it took me 8 RCT years to complete one of the goals. It wasn't fast-paced enough for me, and I often found myself not wanting to continue for awhile becasue I knew it would get too long. And, yet again, the same old roller coaster tycoon stuff was aging. Variety: Much more variety than any other RCT game. Firstly, there are many more scenario types than just "x amount of guests by x year". YOu may have to complete building half-built roller coasters with an excitement level over 6 to win. Or you may have to Get 2000 guests in your park but never let your rating go below 700. This kinda stuff was nice, although i never did see one of the original scenario types. There was also so much variation in the scenery; at least 14 different themes, 10 land types, 10 wall types, and more. There were also some new, high-tech roller coasters, such as the ones that go from say, 0 to 80 in 2 secs, go straight up, reach a peak, then go straight down. Fun. Satisfaction: Since each scenario is so long, you let out a sigh of satisfaction after completing one. But then, it's even more of a let-down when you aren't rewarded with anything at the end of the game. If you're an old pro at RCT, the satisfaction level goes down when you make a roller coaster that is good enough to stay in your park, becasue you're too used to it. Challenge: Much more of a challenge this time around. Even though sometimes it may seem overwhelming, most the times it's just right. Finding a way to complete building that darn roller coaster to complete a scenario is always good to look back on. But, aside from those pros, it's the same old thing. Barely a challenge on the "unlimited money but no rating under 700" scenarios. Misc: It really seemes that the RCT team slacked off on this last expansion pack. I hate to say it, too, beacause they're my heros! Nonetheless, I have 2 gripes. Most of the new rides were construced from the same graphics from older rides. For example, the new "XL200" roller coaster has supports that are exactly the same as the "whoa belly" supports from teh original. The supports for one of the new path suport types is the same as the skyride supports. There are also some other examples, but I don't want to be that picky. My other complaint is the animations for some of the newer rides. Especially on the enterprise and the water coaster. Both of these looked choppy because they didn't have enought "frames" in their animations. For example, in the other RCT installments, you dont see the whoa belly "teleport" from one point to the next, like a choppy framerate, but it's very smooth and beliveable. That isn't the case with some of the LL rides. I'll see if I can explain it. When the watercoaster is turning, it goes from 0 degrees, to 22 degrees, to 45 degrees, to 68 degrees, to 90 degrees. That looks chppoy because it skips so many angles. The original roller coasters go from 0 degrees, to 11, to 22 degrees, to 33, to 45 degrees, to 56, to 68 degrees, to 79, to 90 degrees. 4 more degrees makes a big difference. On the other hand, this was a great expansion pack. It not only came with many scenarios, but it came with 3 "real" parks (already completed) and 1 park that Chris Sawyer made himself. LL also came with the ultimate thing that RCT needed: covered stations and themed entrances/exits. That was the main reason why I bought it.

Conclusion Final Statements: This was a very worthy expansion pack, and the main thing that brought it down was the age of the game. I guess I overdossed on it or something. It's originl score would have been an 80, but the overdose counts as 5 points, because I don't think many people played as much as me. Score: 85/100 |
![]() This doesn't really show off LL, except for the new pathway supports in the top right area, along with the canvas type station covering. So now my park has two water rides.
